Itinerary

DAY 1

Cusco – Mollepata – Challacancha – Humantay Lake – Soraypampa (Sky Lodge Dome)

We will collect you from your hotel between 4:30 a.m to 5:00 am and embark on a two-and-a-half-hour drive to Mollepata, where we will stop for breakfast.

From there, we will continue driving to Challacancha, our starting point for the Salkantay Trek.

Upon arriving at Challacancha, the cook and horseman will pack all camping equipment and cooking supplies, and we will begin our trek.

The first 25 minutes of the hike will be a little uphill until we reach the Water Channel, where we will have stunning panoramic views of the snow-capped Humantay (4120m/13500ft) and Salkantay (6271m/20575ft) mountains.

We will then start the Salkantay trek towards Soraypampa, our first camping spot (3800 m/11750ft), which is also the highest and coldest campsite of the trip.

Soraypampa is located near the second highest Salkantay snow-capped mountain in Cusco. After lunch, we will visit the beautiful Humantay Lake and explore the area before walking down to our Sky Lodge Dome campsite at Soraypampa.

Day 1 of the trek will cover a total distance of approximately 15 km, with an estimated walking time of 7-8 hours. The highest altitude point of the day will be around 3,800 m, which is also the altitude of our campsite.

DAY 2

Soraypampa – Salkantay Pass – Huaracmachay – Chaullay (Sky Lodge Dome)

The views of the two snow-capped mountains from the pass are truly incredible, and there is even a possibility of seeing snow.

After taking a well-deserved rest at the pass, we will continue our trek (now downhill) through a stunning cloud forest until we reach Huayracpunku, where we will stop for lunch. After lunch, we will continue hiking towards the start of the jungle until we reach our second camping spot for the Salkantay Trek at Chaullay or Colcapampa (3000m/9800ft).
