Growing up in the shadow of sacred Mount Salkantay (6,271m / 20,574 ft), our families traversed these mountain passes long before trekking maps existed. We started as humble muleteers and trail assistants, learning the ancient paths and carrying the heritage of our Quechua ancestors.
In 2006, we founded Salkantay Treks Peru with a clear purpose: to eliminate foreign middleman agencies and provide travelers with genuine, direct local expeditions led by certified native guides who treat the mountains with reverence and our mountain staff with absolute dignity.
